DSPP Experiment No. 6 - Analog and digital Chebyshev filter

Another work on Scilab.
The aim which has to be achieved and the contents of this experiments are as follows :
Design a digital chebyshev filter. Inputs: pass band attenuation, stop band attenuation, pass band, stop band and sampling frequencies in Hz.
Two cases of I/P : one for HPF and LPF
use of BLT plot method,
it was concluded that after increasing the order of the filter, we get better matching between input and output values.

  1. Chebyshev filters are used to separate one band of frequencies from another..

  2. Chebyshev filters are preferred over Butterworth filter as the order for same specifications of filter is less in Chebyshev as compared to Butterworth which reduces the hardware requirements.

  3. Chebyshev filter of type I has ripple in pass band and type II in stop band

  4. You have kept the values of passband and stopband attenuation and frequencies fixed. Im curious what would be the effects of varying those values on the overall design and magnitude plot.

  6. The attenuation of passband should be very minimum and the attenuation of stopband should be very high
Thereby by variation in the values the magnitude response will eventually change
